The time has come for change.

Our services and service areas continue to grow, and we are outgrowing our current space.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for people
and a comfortable “home before a home” for pets.
We are beginning the planning process to expand our building at our current location.

YOU are the
building blocks
for their future.

We expect this project to cost in the neighborhood of $275,000-$300,000.
We anticipate that the structure will cost $200,000+, HVAC - $25,000+, Plumbing and Electric - $20,000+,
and improvements such as cages and fixtures - $30,000+.

As we begin the planning process, we are specifically looking for three things:

~GRANT WRITERS
~Contractors of all types to commit to involvement on some level, such as donated or discounted services and/or materials, offsetting the total cost of the project, and
~Volunteers to share in seeing this project through to completion.

Please consider joining us, and attending our Annual Membership Meeting Monday, February 14th, 2011.

Please remember that while we are beginning to plan and raise funds for our building project, our day to day expenses still need to be covered.  We take in over 1,000 animals every year, and they rely on YOU!

Well, we seem to be back on track!  The first several months of 2011 were rough here at GLAAS.  Donations were down significantly, to the extent that we were concerned about the future of the shelter altogether.  However, YOUR generosity has brought us back from that crisis, and our financial position is stronger than ever.
As things stand right now, we're back on track with fundraising for this building project.  To date, we've only raised about $3,000.  Capital campaigns typically take 3-5 years for animal shelters, so we know this may take some time.
